The Grover Center building underwent extensive renovation to create classroom, office, and laboratory spaces to allow Ohio University to consolidate its six schools of the College of Health and Human Services into one building. A 90,000 square foot addition to the building provided expanded space for an employee fitness area and Well Works previously housed elsewhere on campus.
H.R. Gray was retained to perform a constructability review of the bid documents for the renovation and expansion project that assured the integrity of the drawings and specifications, and to develop a detailed construction plan and schedule with narrative to incorporate in the bid documents. This reduced change orders and made for a claim-free project.
H.R. Gray also provided management services throughout the project, monitoring schedule, conducting project meetings and generating meeting minutes, assisting the owner with documentation, change order review and cost control. H.R. Gray developed a recovery schedule during the early stages of construction to overcome structural modifications allowing the project to complete on time without additional cost. H.R. Gray also located sources of American made steel to replace foreign steel, expediting the process so the project would conform to the newly put in place state requirement without impacting the schedule completion date.
This project was completed on time and within budget and was showcased in the Ohio Construction awards competition.
