City of Arlington, Texas Sidewalk & Curb Ramp Improvements

H.R. Gray was retained in March, 2006 to assist the City of Arlington, Texas with the evaluation and modification of sidewalks and curb ramps as related to compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). The project began with an evaluation of approximately 500 curb ramps that were part of an existing overlay program as well as several pedestrian pathways. These areas were not meeting current ADA requirements and H.R. Gray's team was charged with bringing these areas into compliance.

H.R. Gray prepared plans, specifications and estimates for the construction of the ADA-compliant curb ramps for streets in the City of Arlington. Additionally, two community centers, the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center and the Bob Duncan Community Center were investigated and designed to meet current ADA accessibility requirements within the parking lot areas and the sidewalks leading up to them.

In addition to the evaluation and planning process, H.R. Gray also provided on-site management and coordination assistance, quality assurance and inspection assistance.

H.R. Gray also conducted ADA training for the City of Arlington. Two ADA training workshops were provided by H.R. Gray personnel to communicate the legalities, design guidelines and construction requirements typical to ADA projects.
