Texas Dept of Transportation
– ADA Transition Plan – Curb Ramp Program

H.R. Gray was retained in September, 2004 to assist the Texas Department of Transportation with planning a program to address the accessibility concerns for the State of Texas.

H.R. Gray was awarded the $8 million contract, which calls for H.R. Gray to develop a plan, provide ramp accessories and bid documents, manage the construction, and train Texas Department of Transportation staff and contractors. The plan will focus on improvement projects in all 25 TxDOT districts.

Approximately 121,140 corners have been identified as needing either newly installed curb ramps or replacement of the current ramps. Each corner identified will be placed into a master inventory database which will be maintained by H.R. Gray. During the development process of the program, H.R. Gray will coordinate program activities with TxDOT’s District representatives, local, and state governments such as Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, property owners, and community action groups. H.R. Gray is currently developing a program that will have minimal impact to current and future construction projects for the State of Texas.
